The Super Falcons of Nigerian has been named as the women national team of the year at this year’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.
The Nigerian team won the award ahead of Banyana Banyana of South Africa and Atlas Lionesses of Morocco who were the other teams in contention for the Women’s National Team of the Year.
The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, who received the award dedicated it to Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her support for the women football.
The Falcons qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 16 years and was one of the two teams that represented Africa at the competition in Paris earlier this year.
In the male category, the Elephants of Ivory Coast beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria to the award of the national team of the year.
