Real Madrid learn UEFA investigation outcome as Arsenal handed Champions League twist



 Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Uefa ahead of the Champions League quarter-final tie with Arsenal next week.

The German defender was one of four players who was investihated for indecent conduct following the penalty shootout win over Atletico Madrid in the last-16 earlier this month. Atletico made official complaints regarding alleged unsportsmanlike behaviour from Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Daniel Ceballos and Vinicius Junior.

Finding out the verdict on Friday, The Following the investigation of a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector, disciplinary proceedings were opened against the following Real Madrid CF players, Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Daniel Ceballos Fernandez for potentially violating the basic rules of decent conduct (Art. 11(2)(b) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations).

"No disciplinary proceedings were opened against Real Madrid CF player, Vinicius Junior. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has taken the following decisions:

"Decision: The CEDB has decided: To fine Real Madrid CF player, Antonio Rüdiger, €40,000 and to suspend him for a total of one (1) UEFA club competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible for violating the basic rules of decent conduct. Said suspension is not immediately enforced and is subject to a probationary period of one (1) year, starting from the date of the present decision.

To fine Real Madrid CF player, Kylian Mbappé, €30,000 and to suspend him for a total of one (1) UEFA club competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible for violating the basic rules of decent conduct. To fine Real Madrid CF player, Daniel Ceballos Fernández, €20,000 for violating the basic rules of decent conduct."

Speaking during a press-conference on Friday, Carlo Ancelotti had said about Rudiger: "No, we have to wait and nothing more. I don’t think anything will happen and I want him to play the match on Tuesday."

All four players avoided a ban, but only three were fined. Vini Jr. faced no disciplinary action.

In terms of absent players for the first leg, Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended while Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao are among those missing through injury.

As for Arsenal, Gabriel Magalhaes has been ruled out for the season with the hamstring injury he picked up against Fulham requiring surgery to fix.

Riccardo Calafiori is also expected to miss both legs courtesy of the knee issue he suffered during the March international break.
